Quick takes.

  1. My assistant pastor called me yesterday morning and told me that our pastor wanted us all to have crackers and grape juice ready for communion tomorrow morning. I was like um… well… I’m not going to make it to the store before then, I wasn’t planning to have groceries delivered until next week, but I did just that.
  2. I asked mom if she was planning on cooking an Easter ham. She said “they call it social distancing for a reason.” I told her she could do a no-contact delivery, and she just laughed, and said that was too much work.
  3. I think one of the things I want to do when I get my stimulus check, is invest in a premium WP theme I can use for all my blogs. Free themes are constantly nagging you to install recommended plugins, and upgrade to their premium option. I want to use whatever plugins I want to use without being told what the theme wants me to install, and I definitely don’t want to keep being nagged!!!
  4. I thought I’d record the communion part of tomorrow’s service, just for kicks. If it turns out OK, I’ll upload and/or link to it here.
  5. Tomorrow’s my niece’s 8th birthday, and my sister is doing… absolutely nothing!! She wanted to have close family and friends over, but for some reason, that’s out of the question. She’s pregnant, and is definitely high risk for Covid-19, but no one in our family is sick right now. I’ve been sick, but I’m over that, and it definitely wasn’t Covid-19.Mom said something about since I have a caregiver, and she goes to other people’s houses, etc. She actually only goes to one other person’s house, and she’s the person who got us sick to begin with, she’s also over her sickness. My mom and dad will be going over, mom said it was mainly to drop off gifts though.

10 Things Tuesday.

  1. I really don’t care about the democratic primaries. Although it’s hilarious to watch them go so wrong.
  2. I enjoyed watching the impeachment trial, but I couldn’t stand listening to the House Managers. I got so bored, I ended up giving myself a haircut.
  3. I just installed Windows 10 1909 today.
  4. Now I remember why I put those feature updates off for so long. It’s because they take way, way too long!!
  5. MS should just give us one once a year, like everyone else does.
  6. I’m also in the process of catching up on email.
  7. I got behind during impeachment, and because of headaches.
  8. I’m also undertaking an effort to prune inactive RSS feeds from my reader.
  9. Turns out I have quite a few of those.
  10. I had a bad headache last sunday, and didn’t make it to church. When I called mom, she asked if I was staring at the computerscreen too much. Lol that doesn’t really work if you can’t see.

Thursday 13.

Yeah. I skipped 10 Things Tuesday. I completely forgot about it. That is until after my head hit the pillow of course, then I remembered, and I wasn’t wanting to jump out of bed and write a post.
I haven’t done a Thursday 13 in a while, so I’m going to attempt one 10 Things Tuesday style. Not sure if I can come up with 13 things, but here it goes!

  1. Thanksgiving went well overall. Mom asked me what was with the whole “changing my name to Hope” thing. They now live across the street from my assistant pastor and his wife, blah! Apparently, the assistant pastor’s wife told mom that I go by Hope at church, which I do. Needless to say, she’s getting a lecture Sunday.
  2. I was sick last weekend, I started feeling sick the day after Thanksgiving, and I still have some congestion.
  3. Laurie and I were going to put up my tree today, unfortunately we didn’t have time.
  4. Apparently I got some bad salami when I ordered groceries yesterday. I ordered a meat and cheese tray for me to have throughout the week, but one package was bad. I told Laurie I wasn’t sure what the return policy was for Instacart, actually I don’t think they have one. Last year, they gave me chicken instead of turkey breast, and I had to keep it. Anyway, apparently the meat was discolored, so Laurie is taking it back to Safeway, and they’re giving me a new one.
  5. I’d like someone to pay for a year of cable service for me for Christmas.
  6. I have done absolutely 0 Christmas Shopping! I’m hoping to get away with it. We went shopping on Tuesday, because I needed TP and things, but I didn’t buy any gifts.
  7. I can’t wait for my day trip on the 20th. I’m pretty sure Laurie and I have decided we’re going, whether or not her client is going with us. Her client’s son will probably be home around that time, and he might want to take her.
  8. If there isn’t a doctor’s appointment involved, we won’t have to hurry when we’re doing all the pre-CCC shopping.
  9. I would also like a new-ish phone for Christmas. I was looking at an iPhone 8, which is 2 years old. Definitely newer than the phone I have now, which is 5 years old
  10. I’m planning on having lots of Chinese food delivered the day after Christmas.
  11. I need plenty of leftovers to last me through CCC, afterall.
  12. I suppose I should make a wishlist, and put it on this here blog. Not that anyone would ever get me anything, but it’s always fun to look at those.
  13. I’m tired, I think I’ll go to bed soon.

10 Things Tuesday 1.

I’ve seen this going around for a while, you write a list of 10 things on Tuesday. I’m not going to say that I’m going to do this every week, the second I do that, I’ll get a massive headache and won’t be able to do it several Tuesdays in a row. OK here it goes, hopefully I’ll be able to come up with 10!

  1. Hopefully we won’t have power outages over Thanksgiving. They were predicting snow and 60 mile an hour winds here, yeah I said 60. The wind advisory was supposed to last all day tomorrow, but it was amended until 1 A.M tomorrow morning.
  2. I finally figured out how to use Feedbin, after about 6 years of trying! Lol it took that long because apparently there’s an overlay when you open links to articles, and it won’t open them directly. I didn’t realize that, and instead of opening links to the articles, it was opening the overlay links, which was making all sorts of problems. Now that I’ve found the overlays, and they’re easy to navigate to, I can use the service.
  3. Right now I’m using Waterfox as my default browser. It allows you to add feed readers, unlike Firefox. This way, if I want to subscribe to a feed in Feedbin, I can do so just by pushing the handy little button Waterfox offers on the feed’s page. Yeah, it still uses the preview for feeds. If Firefox would’ve taken out live bookmarks, and just kept the preview and the ability to add feed readers, that would’ve been fine with me.
  4. I’m getting fiber internet! We have a local ISP here that’s installing Fiber internet in my complex at the beginning of 20/20. I’m the first one to get it here, I had to place an order for service before they would start the install. I got a thing saying it was available in my area last week, and when I called them they said they would wire up the building, if someone wanted them to.
  5. As far as expense goes, I’m getting an upgrade. It will be a bit more than what my current ISP costs, but I believe good internet is always worth it.
  6. I went to worship night at my church last night. It was a lot of fun! I haven’t been to one of those in a long time. Last time they did one I wasn’t able to go.
  7. I have to say, I did enjoy laughing at the impeachment crazyness last week. I’m not a Trump supporter by any stretch of the imagination, I consider myself more libertarian than anything. However, there’s something about politicians making ridiculous statements that’s hilarious to me. Yeah so I laugh at both sides a lot, I honestly do!
  8. My mom and dad got me Instacart express again for Christmas this year! It’s a convoluted process as to how I have to go about that whole thing. I have to add the payment method of the person who’s paying.
  9. Instacart offers grocery gift certificates, but not one for the express yearly plan that I use to make deliveries free.
  10. As for having food from restaurants delivered, Doordash is what we have in our area for that. I’ve been using it, and it’s very quick! Yeah, it’s quick here, probably because we live in a fairly rural area.

Favorite things about Fall.

Fall is one of my favorite seasons. It definitely isn’t Summer, i have trouble handling the heat. It’s not as cold as Winter either. It’s just in between. Here are some of my favorite things about it.

  1. Cool fall mornings. I enjoy getting up early when it’s still cool outside. I live in an apartment that has decent insolation, but not the best. I can feel the air, so I get to enjoy it. I’m not one to go outside at 4 in the morning.
  2. Hot tea or coffee.
  3. New TV seasons.
  4. Lots of homemade soup!
  5. Fall baking.
  6. Thanksgiving.

Questions I get asked a lot.

On my old WP blog, I did a Write31Days series of questions sighted people ask me. I decided to make a list of questions I get asked all too often. that way, hopefully you’ll read first before you ask.

  1. Do you dream? Of course, I don’t think anyone doesn’t dream. My dreams are rare though, and a lot more vivid. I dream in words, just like my thoughts.
  2. How do you watch TV? Well, this is one of those stupid semantics things. I listen, but I say “watch.” Before you get all offended because I’m blind and I say “watch,” it’s what everyone says, so it’s OK.
  3. What do you see? Or is it totally black? No, I can’t see anything, and no, it’s not totally black. Nothing means absolutely nothing. There’s nothing there.
  4. How do you use a computer, and/or cell phone? I use software that reads the screen out loud, called a screen reader. I learned to touch type when I was in like 1st and 2nd grade.
  5. all the weird ones. How do you take a shower? How do you wash your hands? please think for a second before you ask a question. I do those things the same as you, as long as you aren’t admiring yourself in the shower.
